More Amistad from Rock and Ice

29 03 2010

As far as the climbing magazines are concerned, the only thing in Texas is Hueco, or at least that’s what it would appear to be if not for the efforts of the Publishing Patron Saint of Texas Climbing – Jeff Jackson of Rock and Ice.  Jackson is responsible for all the classic Texas Limestone guidebooks, as well as putting up tons of routes throughout the state and region.  He still keeps up with a substantial portion the Austin community, writing about the multitude of opportunities around the state.  Recently he even added a blurb to a Rock and Ice email about the Amistad trip listed in the last post:  check it out.

Special thanks to Abilene Climbers for passing the info along.  Be sure to stop by and check out their recent updates from Argentina.

The Limestone Cliffs of Amistad

26 03 2010

Check out this page for a recent taste of whats available along the shores of Amistad National Reservoir and the Pecos and Devil’s Rivers.  Looks like some amazing bouldering and DWS, as well as some roped climbs probably out at Continental Ranch.

If the photos are any clue, VTP will be having some footage up shortly as well.

Nothing going on, so a Video

13 03 2010

Not much going on around here, but that’s fairly routine for DFW.

Rumor has it that Ann Raber of the quasi-climbing blog SendAustin was elected president of the Central Texas Mountaineers. In honor of that, here’s a video of someone else bouldering in Austin.

Vodpod videos no longer available.
